Jalandhar/Chandigarh, 11 June 2025: Bharatiya Janata Party National General Secretary Shri Tarun Chugh addressed a press conference under the ‘Sankalp se Siddhi’ program in Jalandhar today to mark the completion of 11 years of the Central Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that 11 years of Modi Government are an example of “public service, nation building and holistic development”.
Chug said: “India has today risen from 11th in economic terms in 2014 (GDP of $1.86 trillion) to become the fourth largest economy in the world (GDP of $4.187 trillion). Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the government fought a decisive battle against poverty, bringing more than 25 crore people above the poverty line. DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) was implemented to directly deliver the benefits of government schemes to the public while keeping zero tolerance on corruption, due to which ₹44 lakh crore reached the beneficiaries directly and the era of middlemen ended.”
He informed that under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, loans of more than ₹33 lakh crore were given to more than 52.5 crore people, of which 68% were women. At the same time, due to the fintech revolution, UPI transactions have crossed ₹25.14 lakh crore by May 2025.
So far, 3.7 crore families in rural areas and 1.18 crore families in urban areas have got houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, and 3 crore additional houses have been announced. 15 crore households have got tap water under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and about 12 crore toilets have been built under the Swachh Bharat Mission.
9.3 crore people have received free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, the world’s largest health insurance scheme. Senior citizens above 70 years of age have got special benefits. More than 35 crore people have got tele-medicine facility through e-Sanjeevani portal and the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras has reached 16,251.
In the defense sector, decisive military operations like Uri and Balakot and missions like Operation Sindoor have demonstrated India’s military strength and diplomatic assertiveness. Defense exports have now reached ₹23,622 crore as against ₹686 crore in 2014. The BrahMos missile has become a symbol of India’s global power.
Speaking on culture and heritage renaissance, Chug said: “The Modi government followed the path of ‘development as well as heritage’ and established India’s cultural identity globally through events like the construction of the grand Ram temple in Ayodhya, the Char Dham highway project, the Prasad Yojana, and the International Yoga Day. Jammu and Kashmir was brought into the mainstream by removing Article 370. Under Startup India, India has now become the third largest startup ecosystem in the world.”
He said that during the tenure of the government, 7.71 lakh km of rural roads have been constructed. Many infrastructure projects like Vande Bharat Train, Udan Yojana, Chenab Bridge have reduced the distance from one corner of India to another. There has been a 5-fold increase in the agriculture budget and an amount of ₹3.68 lakh crore has been distributed to 9.8 crore farmers under the PM-Kisan scheme.
Regarding Punjab, Tarun Chugh said that in Punjab, the land of martyrs, the Modi government redeveloped the Jallianwala Bagh Memorial, in which four museum galleries were built. SIT was formed to provide justice to the 1984 riot victims and 300 closed cases were reopened. Victims were given compensation and jobs. The 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and Veer Bal Diwas gave global recognition to Sikh history.
In Punjab, 23 lakh farmers are getting PM-Kisan assistance of ₹ 6,000 every year. MSP has increased by 50-60% since 2014. The decades-old pilgrimage became possible through the Kartarpur Corridor. The decision to remove GST on langar protects religious dignity.
The Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway (669 km) at a cost of ₹ 40,000 crore will not only connect religious places but will also empower the entire region economically.
Chugh said that in Punjab
• 79,635 houses approved under PM Awas Gramin and 40,352 completed
• 1,33,270 approved and 97,348 completed under PM Awas Urban
13,59,509 gas connections have been distributed under Ujjwala Yojana.
In health services, AIIMS has been established in Bathinda and PGI in Ferozepur. IIM Amritsar and IIT Mohali have given new heights to Punjab in the field of higher education. Work is going on rapidly in the state under the Smart City Mission. More than Rs 1200 crore has been invested under the Amrit Bharat Station Yojana of Railways.
Tarun Chugh said: “With the mantra of service, good governance and overall development, the Modi government has made a historic journey towards ‘Developed India’ in 11 years and has given India a new height on the world stage.”
